Propagation of shock waves in the solar corona with 2-D loop structures

چکیده

Motivated by recent observations of type II radio bursts, we study propagation of shock waves by the twodimensional numerical magnetohydrodynamic model. Explosion of a hot plasma is investigated for various ratios of the mass density and magnetic field intensity in a fan of coronal loops. Ducting of shock waves occurs along loop-like structure and ducting of possible radio emission in under-dense coronal loops is expected. This provides an alternative to classical explanation that two distinctly separated type II radio bursts are caused by two different shocks. The presented results support the idea that a single solar flare energy release with a single shock can generate coronal disturbances observed as two separate type II radio bursts.

On Heating of Solar Corona and Acceleration of Low-Speed Solar Wind by Acoustic Waves Generated in Corona

We investigate possibilities of solar coronal heating by acoustic waves generated not at the photosphere but in the corona, aiming at heating in the midto low-latitude corona where the low-speed wind is expected to come from. Acoustic waves of period τ ∼ 100s are triggered by chromospheric reconnection, one model of small scale magnetic reconnection events recently proposed by Sturrock. These w...

Non-WKB Models of the FIP Effect: Implications for Solar Coronal Heating and the Coronal Helium and Neon Abundances

We revisit in more detail a model for element abundance fractionation in the solar chromosphere, that gives rise to the “FIP Effect” in the solar corona and wind. Elements with first ionization potential below about 10 eV, i.e. those that are predominantly ionized in the chromosphere, are enriched in the corona by a factor 3-4. We model the propagation of Alfvén waves through the chromosphere u...

Damping of visco-resistive Alfven waves in solar spicules

Interaction of Alfven waves with plasma inhomogeneity generates phase mixing which can cause the dissipation of Alfven waves. We investigated the dissipation of standing Alfven waves due to phase mixing at the presence of steady flow and sheared magnetic field in solar spicules. Moreover, the transition region between chromosphere and corona was considered. Our numerical simulation showed that ...

جذب تشدیدی و اتلاف امواج هیدرومغناطیسی در تاج خورشید

Although, the hot solar corona was discovered more than sixty years ago, however, the exact dissipation mechanism that heats the corona is still unknown. Resonant absorption and damping of Alfven waves appear to be one of the major candidates in this respect. The corona is highly structured and inhomogeneous medium, containing a large number of discrete magnetic loops. In this paper a cylindr...
